WireGuard on Linux

Install wireguard-tools and bring the tunnel up with wg-quick.

  1. 1

    Install the tools

Use your distribution's package manager. On Debian and Ubuntu, resolvconf lets wg-quick set DNS.

sudo apt install wireguard resolvconf # Debian, Ubuntu
sudo dnf install wireguard-tools # Fedora
    sudo pacman -S wireguard-tools # Arch
  2. 2

    Install the configuration

In your account, add a device for Linux and download the file. Then put it in place, readable only by root.

    sudo install -m 600 ElseWhere-VPN-*.conf /etc/wireguard/elsewhere.conf
  3. 3

    Bring it up

Start and stop the tunnel with wg-quick.

    sudo wg-quick up elsewhere
    sudo wg-quick down elsewhere
  4. 4

    Start at boot

Optional: let systemd bring the tunnel up after every restart.

    sudo systemctl enable --now wg-quick@elsewhere
